I'm going to learn a new instrument: Hammered Dulcimer. After month of listening in awe about this extraordinary sound I got the chance to get an instrument for myself. Sadly, there aren't compositions of my own available yet, but you can listen to my first attempts with some songs on Soundcloud.

"Lite" was composed for music box, but as I heard it played with harp I liked it very much (with marimbaphone I like it, too).

The title is a fusion of the German word "leicht" and the English word "light". It is also used in English as a short version for "light". In this piece it means "light from a candle, a fire, morning sunlight, or northern lights". A kind of pun for "the light light" or "lightness of light".

"Floating" was written for the music box itself. But when I tried the piece on the piano, I couldn't decide what sounded better - so I chose both! Each instrument brings different effects to the whole. So I don't want to drop either of them. The piano version is available on my piano album (coming soon). This track was developed on a truly cruel day … Unbelievable that it was even possible to compose something that somehow sounds good. It was also kind of a help to the crazy mood …

This composition was the result of experiments in playing, writing down the ideas I had until then, playing again and developing into a new piece. So it has become more and more what it is now.

This piece is written for the music box, but sounds just as good on a marimba (here with good samples as I don't own one) - maybe it's a challenge for a marimba player? Please contact me regarding music sheets.
